Bronze Sculpture of the Old Summer Palace Twelve Chinese Zodiac Animals - Rat

Cast during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, designed by the court Western painter Giuseppe Castiglione, supervised by the Frenchman Jean-Denis Attiret, and crafted by court artisans. It has a copper head and stone body, with exquisite craftsmanship. It was an important part of the fountain in the Haiyan Hall of the Yuanmingyuan. In 1860, the Anglo-French Allied forces invaded China and burned down the Yuanmingyuan, resulting in the loss of the animal heads. Huaxia Bronze Art, after consulting a large number of historical materials, has recast the twelve bronze animal heads, marking the end of their century-long journey and their return home. Rat: Holding a measuring square, measuring heaven and earth, acting as one pleases without exceeding the limits. Ox: Purple energy comes from the east for 30,000 li, the Green Ox Taoist leaves Hangu Pass. Tiger: Body like a mountain sweeping the six harmonies, like thunder shaking the eight directions. Rabbit: Holding a fan, combining inclusiveness, opening to embrace all rivers and seas. Dragon: Dragon soars, prosperity shakes the four seas, the universe and sun and moon illuminate China. Snake: Gentle as jade, solemn as a pine tree, a modest gentleman, bearing great virtue. Horse: Fighting at dawn with golden drums, sleeping at night with a saddle, willing to use the sword at the waist to directly cut Loulan. Sheep: Watching the flowers bloom and fall in the front yard, casually watching the clouds roll by in the sky. Monkey: The golden monkey rises with a thousand-jin stick, the jade universe is clear for thousands of miles. Rooster: The crowing of cocks and barking of dogs are all the smoke and fire of the world, the pearl in hand illuminates the mountains and rivers. Dog: Golden halberd and long spear, stabilizing the country and securing the nation, sealing the wolf and dwelling in Xuxu, leaving a lasting reputation for thousands of generations. Pig: The bow is drawn like a full moon, the arrow flies like a meteor, accomplishing the emperor's affairs in the world, winning fame before and after life. From the destruction of the Garden of Ten Thousand Gardens to the reunion of the twelve animal heads, the Chinese people have striven for self-improvement, composing an epic of the country's magnificent changes over the past century. Transcending time and space, it is not only the indelible marks, but also the call of ancient souls......
