Bronze Round Garden Zodiac-Ox

Bronze Round Garden Zodiac-Ox

Cast during the Qianlong Emperor's reign in the Qing Dynasty, designed by the court Western painter Giuseppe Castiglione (Lang Shining), supervised by the Frenchman Michel Benoist (Jiang Youren), and crafted by court artisans, it features a bronze head and stone body with exquisite casting, serving as an important part of the Haiyantang fountain in the Old Summer Palace. In 1860, the Anglo-French allied forces invaded China, burning down the Old Summer Palace, and the animal heads were lost overseas. Huaxia Bronze Art consulted a large number of historical records to recast the twelve zodiac bronze sculptures, allowing these 'wanderers' of a hundred years to finally return to their homeland. Zodiac Rat, holding a compass, measuring heaven and earth, acting freely without transgressing rules. Zodiac Ox, purple qi coming from the east for 30,000 li, the Green Ox Daoist exiting Hangu Pass. Zodiac Tiger, body like a mountain sweeping across the six directions, roaring like thunder shaking the eight directions. Zodiac Rabbit, holding a fan, encompassing all when closed, embracing all rivers when open. Zodiac Dragon, dragons soaring in prosperous times shaking the four seas, heaven, earth, sun, and moon illuminating the divine land. Zodiac Snake, gentle as jade, dignified as a pine, a humble gentleman, bearing all with great virtue. Zodiac Horse, fighting with drums and gongs at dawn, sleeping with a saddle at night, willing to use the sword at the waist, directly to slay Loulan. Zodiac Goat, observing the blooming and fading of flowers in the courtyard, letting clouds roll and unfurl casually in the sky. Zodiac Monkey, the golden monkey wields its mighty staff, clearing the vast heavens of all dust. Zodiac Rooster, crowing of roosters and barking of dogs, all are signs of human life; with a bright pearl in hand, illuminating thousands of mountains and rivers. Zodiac Dog, golden spears and long lances, stabilizing the nation and securing its borders, defeating formidable foes, leaving a legacy for ten thousand generations. Zodiac Pig, bow drawn like a full moon, arrow flying like a shooting star, accomplishing the king's affairs, earning renown in life and after death. From the destruction of the 'Garden of Gardens' to the reunion and rebirth of the twelve zodiac animals, Chinese people have striven to improve themselves, composing an epic of the nation's magnificent transformation over a century. What transcends time and space is not only the indelible marks but also the call of ancient souls...
